Rooted in ancient wisdom, the principles of Hermeticism have been taught within various esoteric institutions for centuries. Originating from Hermes Trismegistus, these philosophical ideas continue to discreetly impact societies worldwide in various ways.

Hermetic curriculum is defined through seven core principles, or laws, which fundamentally define the operational mechanisms within our reality. These laws function behind the scenes, with perpetual effect, regardless of individual awareness or knowledge about how or why they operate. When these principles are understood, optimized actions can be elicited through intentional alignment with the natural order of all things.

Polarity: The Dichotomy of Reality

To begin, our reality is fundamentally dualistic in nature. According to the Principle of Polarity, all phenomena contain two contrary poles. These opposite classifications are simply varied degrees within a unified spectrum. For example, hot and cold are merely opposite expressions of temperature. In a similar manner, love and hate are extreme polarities within an emotional scale. Esoterically, this principle is represented by the yin-yang symbol.

Rhythm: The Ebb & Flow

In our reality, continuously flowing tidal motions are characteristic expressions. According to the Principle of Rhythm, circumstantial fluctuation predictably unfolds in a recurrent manner. With precision, cyclical patterns of ebb and flow affect every circumstance. From the changing of seasons to oscillating periods of success and failure, history predictably repeats itself. Common adages, such as “strike while the iron is hot”, acknowledge this principle.

The Code of Simulated Reality

According to contemporary theories, our universe is an elaborate and meticulously crafted illusion. The notion of a simulated reality isn’t exclusive to modern society, and various quantum phenomena increasingly support this concept.

In this context, Hermetic principles of Polarity and Rhythm can be viewed as fundamental software within the programmed operating system of our reality. In other words, they are the fixed rules that govern all phenomena. While these operational mechanisms are predetermined, your ability to play the game is not. Essentially, reality can be influenced through awareness and alignment with the underlying rules.

Reality Is Subject to Influence

This brings us back to a core truth: our reality is subject to influence. Congruent with these universal principles, circumstances within our physical reality can be affected through focused intent. However, thought alone is not enough to induce change.

Although external shifts originate within the inner space of consciousness, action is required for circumstances to effectively materialize. Through knowledge of universal principles, such as rhythm and polarity, your actions can be intentionally aligned in way that promotes optimal results with minimal resistance. Ultimately, this is how you move from merely understanding the rules to actively playing the game of reality.
